GIST Engineering College has two departments in the faculty of Engineering. Each department offers fours years (Eight Semester) degree programmes leading to the award of the Bachelor of Engineering (B. Engg.) in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering respectively. All degree programmes in engineering are arranged on the semester system and all provide teaching by an appropriate mix of lectures problems classes, small group tutorials, laboratory works, projects & Survey.
The Project is a most important and distinctive feature of the fourth year (7th & 8th Semester) and requires the students to study a particular design or research problem in depth usually with explicit industrial involvement, allowes even deeper investigation in such problems. The students may choose their projects some of their courses from a wide range of options with the consultation of their tutors who ensure that the complete programme constitutes a coherent academic discipline of field of study.
Although B.Sc.Engg. Graduates get the degrees from NWFP University of Engineering & Technology Peshawar, (after successful completion of four years course of study) unless and until they compete 800 hours internship programme of practical training in any repute private/ Government Technical Department or industry. |
